Visit to B&Q – Exterior Evaluation of Paints

Being able to identify paints of the same brand so that the identity is the same on all products not matter the size or colour

Nearly all the paints pictured have a label on the front to depict what colour is in the paint. This would also be helpful for the consumer to ensure they are using the colour they wanted

these are flatter pots of paint in a square box. these shapes would also be easy to stack but are not very eco friendly due to the large variation in materials

this is a company called Paint Pod. This particular pot carries 5L of paint which will be the combined weight of both pots of paint. Due to the weight of the paint, it cant to my attention that there would need to be a handle or support to carry my box flat

elements on the pots to show that it has previously been recycled

As soon as I saw this paint I instantly thought of its ‘heritage’ and that it looks up market and high quality. I think this is because the year is such a prominent element of the design, also the shiny tin makes it really eye catching

These crown paints look very hight class. I really like the gold swirl effect on the sides of the tins and the background images are colours are all the same, only the colour sticker on the front changes which helps to keep the strong identity

Once again the use of gold on these tins emits a royal feel, the front almost looks like a decorated mirror frame and the calligraphy font contrasts well against the formality of the Craig and Rose logo

This is probably my personal favourite design. The idea is so simple and elegant that it does ooze class and simplicity. Once again the use of swirls has been added on to the sides of the tins

These paints focus the brand on their USP (unique selling point) which is that they can be used on any material in the home, rather then having is specially designed for wood or metal etc

As oyu can see on this broader image, all the paints still follow this cylinder shape and are all very similar in design. I want to make sure that if my design was to be put in an environment such as the one pictured above then it would stand out more to a higher end consumer
