These printers have a stand-by mode which runs on 3 watts as opposed to 20 watts for a non-eco-friendly printer. imageCLASS models would contain rechargeable ink cartridges which are to be shipped to Canon for recycling. So far, one million of these cartridges have been recycled. Eco-friendly printers contain single cartridges in which individual tanks contain different coloured inks. This would help in saving ink. Also, these printers are enabled with duplex printing.
